About St Dunstan's College (Preparatory)

Here you will find a teaching community dedicated to helping boys and girls grow into capable young men and women, with the confidence and courage to do the right thing, and the humanity to care about more than themselves. The St Dunstan’s College motto ‘I Serve’ provides inspiration for the school community to develop an attitude of servant leadership. Leadership through service philosophically underpins every level of school activity.

We believe that boys and girls should be inspired towards excellence, and we know that they excel best in an environment that understands and supports them. Our school community ensures that each pupil is known, valued, and appreciated. Efforts and contributions are recognised in ways that motivate to continually reach further and higher. As an Anglican school, everything we do at every level is informed by the teachings of Christ. Our objective is to be a centre of excellence that understands the value of the individuals that make up our community, yet unselfishly engages with our broader community.

A leading independent, Anglican school under the auspices of the Highveld Diocese

The Preparatory School seeks to be recognised as a school striving for academic excellence. In this regard, each classroom is equipped with an interactive Smart Board and teachers are encouraged to use iPads in their lessons. Our computer centres offer not only the knowledge network training but also house the Readers are Leaders and the Mathletics Programmes.

On the sporting front, our pupils compete against the monastic independent schools, as well as our local state schools and state schools from the Johannesburg East area. We are competitive in swimming, squash, football, netball, tennis badminton, athletics, biathle, softball, cricket and rugby.

Our music and cultural departments are keen to perform at every opportunity, taking part in the Benoni Eisteddfod and Eisteddfods hosted by St Dunstan’s. Our marimba bands, both junior and senior, delight audiences in and around Benoni.

It is thanks to our caring and dedicated teaching staff our Preparatory School continues to be a first choice academic, sporting and cultural option on the East Rand.
